24V SMD LED Rope Light

The ropelight is made for either 12VDC or 24VDC, so you need a matching transformer if you need to use them for 230V.

You should only cut the rope where there is a space between the LED strip each 50cm. You can also make cuts per 5cm on 12V, or 10cm per 24V, but this can be difficult. See the section "Finer divisions of LED rope lights".

If you need to make an angle with the strip, take care not to bend it too much, as the LEDs might stop working. Use connectors instead. Notice that you must connect positive and negative correctly to make it work.

When you cut the rope light, you must use endcaps and glue to waterproof it. 

Connectors

Connectors are used by putting in the pins in to the rope light, and then putting the connector over both. Make sure the pins are put in to the cable and not the plastics.

Finer divisions of LED rope lights

The below guide is your own responsibility, and not something we recommend. With 12V rope lights it is possible to make divions of 5cm, and 10cm for 24V. The LED strip inside the rope light has clear markings where it can be cut. Before you cut you have to look at the below illustration.

The two wires in the sides are used to send power from section to section (1). You must cut them completely clear of plastics (2) so that you can solder them on to the strip (3)

NOTE: In some ropes the wires cross around the LED strip, so you have to connect to the opposite site.

Notice that it can be difficul to get pins in to the wires after soldering.
